Renew, owner of Five-Star Power Forward, told On3 on Tuesday that he had been decommissioned from Florida and released on a letter of intent.
It is not surprising that he wants to reopen his assignment after the coaching change. Former coach Mike White is now leading the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Gators have replaced San Francisco’s Todd Golden.
Renew Florida was the highest-ranked committee in the 2022 class, coming in as the 29th-best overall player according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. He was the fifth best in his position.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank the community of #GatorNation for the love and support they have given me,” he said in a statement. “With what has happened at the University of Florida, I have decided to resume my assignment.”
It’s a tough push for Golden. He tried to keep the class together, but he still has two promises left: four-star power forward Jalen Reid and three-star combo guard Denzel Aberdeen.
Prior to signing Renew Florida, his other finalists were Miami, Memphis and Florida State.
