The future of Penn State Secondary looks pretty decent in the 2022 season and beyond. Despite some roster turnovers this offseason with the departures of Jacqueline Brisker and Tariq Castro-Fields, Penn State’s secondary depth seems to be one of the more reliable strengths of the collective unit on the defensive side of football in the 2022 season. But for those looking to the future, a potential recruiting prize is coming to a strong weekend at a 7-on-7 tournament in Atlanta.
Selma, Dakari Nelson of Alabama was among the players highlighted as the best performer at the Pylon 7-on-7 tournament in Atlanta last weekend, as noted by 247Sports. Nelson was in his second year of participating in the tournament, and he was known as a player who went from a groundbreaking performer a year ago to one of the top defensive performers of the year.

Last year, Nelson was kind of an out-coming [party] Pylon explodes on the scene in Atlanta when he makes a bunch of takeaways for the Gascrew Elite. The rising senior of Selma (Ala.) Did the same exact weekend and doubled as a wide receiver, scoring nearly a dozen touchdowns. Nelson, who stands at the height of Clemson, Tennessee and Penn State, has checked many right boxes with his 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame. He took more right angles as he descended the hill.
As mentioned by 247Sports, Nelson is reportedly on top of the Nitani Lions as he continues to work in the early stages of his recruitment process. The 2023 Class Four-star defensive back has an offer from many of the people in his collection. At this time, no official visit has been confirmed, although his appointment profile still does not record any scheduled visit.
Only time will tell how well Penn State performed in Nelson’s recruitment process, but one of the top performers at such a showcase event should be encouraged to see Penn State top the list.
